I've been going through a slow fan moving issue so now i'm planning to do a custom fan spped up using SMC fan control. Generally i will leave in default until the temperature is upto 55-59 degree celcius which will run at 1200-1300 by default.. When i use CPU intensive apps, planning to set:
2000 RPM when Temperature is 60-65 3000 RPM when Temperature is 65-70
3500 RPM when Temperature is 70-75 4000- 5500 RPM when 80 degree and above ...
Do you think this custom fan control is OK to do? is it considered safe?
Set your computer's fan speed. SmcFanControl is a quite curious application that allows you to chane the speed of the different fans inhabiting your computer.
Thanks

Hey guys, so I have boot camped my Macbook Pro to have Windows 7 on so I can play games that have not been brought out for Mac! (DayZ, Secret World, Ect)
And about 10 minutes ago I was in the middle of playing Secret World when my whole computer (Mouse as well) froze, and started making a really weird mechanical noise (through the speakers)...
I took my headphones off to find my computer fans were pretty loud, and the bottom, screen of the mac was very hot to touch!
Could this of been just a Windows problem? or do you think it was caused due to the heat?
I had to close down my mac by holding the power button for 3 seconds... I instantly re-booted, but to the Mac side of it! Opened up SMC Fan control, and it said the fan temp was 60'c ?
Does anybody know an alternate programme for Windows that I can monitor my fan temp?
